Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have the potential to improve medical research and practice. However, it is often enormously difficult to translate theoretical advances in AI research into medical practice. The Else Kröner Medical Scientist School “ClinBrAIn” aims to close this gap. It will train young researchers to become so called “Medical Machine Learning Scientists”. After their training, they will be able to develop and apply tailored AI methods for clinical problems in close collaboration with medical experts.
The Else Kröner Medical Scientist School is a joint initiative of research groups at the Center for Neurology, the Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning” at the University of Tübingen, the Tübingen AI Center and the Tübingen Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience. It is led by Professor Jakob Macke (Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning”) and PD Dr. Kathrin Brockmann and Professor Martin Giese (both Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research). The school is funded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung. Please read their press release (in German only.
In addition, a new Else Kröner Research School is being established at the Center of Neurology. It will support young physicians on their way to becoming clinician scientists. Read the news
