HIH News

Welcome to the HIH

Dr. Isabell Wochner is the newest addition to the HIH. On February 1, 2025, she started her own independent junior research group "Neuromechanical Modeling and Sensor Fusion for Assistive Robotics".

Dr. Wochner is investigating how everyday movements can be predicted in real time using wearable sensor data and neuromechanical computer models. To this end, wearable sensors will be used in combination with AI methods to record gaze direction and body movement. The project aims to use this improved prediction to enable robotic assistance systems that support people with motor impairments in real time and thus significantly improve their quality of life.

Dr. Isabell Wochner conducts research in the field of predictive simulations, machine learning and biomechanics. She received her doctorate in biomechanics and biorobotics from the University of Stuttgart before moving to the University of Heidelberg as a postdoctoral researcher. She has been a junior research group leader at the HIH since February 2025.

We are extremely pleased about the new addition and wish her every success in her future endeavours!
