Outpatient clinics
The department for Neurology and Epileptology is involved in the treatment of all neurological diseases together with the other departments of the Center for Neurology. The main focus of the department lies on paroxysmal neurological diseases, neuromuscular disorders and headache syndromes.
Epilepsy outpatient clinic
The epilepsy outpatient clinic focuses on patients with epilepsy and other paroxysmal diseases such as recurrent syncopation or psychogenic nonepileptic seizures. For patients in whom pharmacological treatment is difficult there is the possibility to take part in clinical studies. For differential diagnosis, optimizing therapy or to evaluate the possibility of epilepsy surgery, inpatient stays on a regular ward or the video-EEG monitoring unit can be planned. Ion channel disorders are managed in an interdisciplinary ion channel consultation.
Outpatient clinic for headache and neuropathic pain
On of the most common health complaints in neurology is pain, especially headache. Whilst taking care of patients with neuropathic pain, this outpatient clinic focusses on all forms of headache and facial pain including, migraine, tension headache, cluster headache, trigeminal neuralgia and others. A main emphasis lies on the differential diagnosis and a multimodal therapeutic consultation of patients with difficult to treat primary headache syndromes. Additional treatment options together with the departments of neursurgery, pain medicine and psychosomatics can be evaluated.
Outpatient clinic for neuromuscular disorders
The outpatient clinic for neuromuscular disorders takes care of patient with neuromuscular disorders such as congenital, acquired, inflammatory or metabolic myopathies and myasthenic syndromes. We offer diagnostic, therapy, counseling and long-term care for our patients. Furthermore, we offer counseling and treatment for spinal muscular atrophy.
Polyneuropathy outpatient clinic
The polyneuropathy outpatient clinic is focused on patients with hereditary or acquired polyneuropathies. Besides an extensive clinical examination electrophysiological measurements can be obtained during the visit. A main emphasis of the outpatient clinic is the technique of high-resolution ultrasound. This enables a pain-free and uncomplicated way to visualize the nerves. During the outpatient visit additional diagnostic procedures or an inpatient visit can be planned. There is the possibility to take part in clinical studies regarding diagnosis and therapy. We offer consulation for all etiologies of neuropathies: i.e. genetic (CMT/HMSN), autoimmunge (CIDP, MMN, MADSAM, GBS, vasculitis) or TTR-Amyloidosis (wild type and hereditary).
Outpatient clinic for nerve injuries
The outpatient clinic for nerve injuries focuses on injury of peripheral nerves from carpal tunnel syndrome to traumatic nerve injury. Clinical examination, electrophysiological diagnostic such as neurography and myography and nerve ultrasound are combined to form a conclusive diagnosis. Depending on the cause of the injury, patients are counseled and can be referred to our cooperation partners in neurosurgery, neuroradiology or the department of hand, reconstructive and burn surgery at BG Unfallklinik Tübingen, together forming the Tübinger Nerve Team, TNT.
General neurological policlinic
The general neurological policlinic serves as outpatient clinic for diseases out of the whole field of neurology.
